The 64-bit version binaries reside in C:\Program Files\... but the program still references things like the aom profiles in C:\Program Filse(x86)\... I found this out recently when I removed the old install directory... and AWB started freaking out about where the profiles were. The AOM profile configuration dialog then got into a loop and wouldn't let me out without killing the application.
This was some wrong logic taking the application default directory (obtained by OS call), and then writing it into the user preferences file; not a good idea for the reasons above. This is now fixed, but you may still have a wrong setting to remove from the user config file (Tools>Options>Edit File).
