After reading the change log, it feels wrong that these allowed states are only defined in diagrams and not in a processable format anywhere

Well, they are in the UML (XMI). Do you think we should export state machine specifications in a different format?

I don't really know, maybe as a table of sorts in the specs or something like that is enough.

Agree - some sort of tabular view that can be clicked- through from a link.

In the document - yes, I had thought of that before. The trouble is that requires someone (probably me) upgrading the UML extractor to generate some Asciidoctor table for the state machine in the same way we do for the classes.

Maybe the thing to do is simulate it manually for now and replace it later on with the automated version. I think that would be doable. I'll investigate.
