CIMI Modelling Style

This page includes various CIMI modelling examples using ADL/AOM 1.5 and the ADL workbench. The idea is to show how various modelling patterns look with respect to specific structures in the RM and also in the AOM. Looking at real patterns / styles gives us an idea of what Reference Model structures work, and what may need to change, and also if the AOM does what is needed.

Modelling Patterns

  • Entry-in-Entry - one way of enabling logically 'atomic' items like 'weight', 'pulse', 'hematocrit' to appear in both a multi-item panels, and also in a single-item panel.

Representing Context

We can identify 'generic' context (i.e. context that is not specific to the kind of data, like cuff size for BP measurement) on the following dimensions:

  • Temporal context - clinical time
  • Subject
  • Participations (other than subject)
  • Place / location
  • Workflow - order, scheduling processes etc

Ideally this information would be visible at the COMPOSITION (encounter, health event) and ENTRY (clinical statement) levels.

Some simple context additions to the RM that would be useful:
