Contributions to openEHR Annual Report | @Joana Vicente @Mikael Nyström | “ openEHR Sweden – Early Activity Report 2025 In March 2025, openEHR Sweden successfully hosted a national collaboration meeting, bringing together key stakeholders from across the country to share progress and experiences with openEHR. Participants included representatives from Region Stockholm, Uppsala, and Östergötland, among others. The event fostered valuable connections, particularly around initiatives in cancer care and other openEHR-related domains. At the Vitalis conference in Gothenburg this May, openEHR Sweden hosted a dinner for attendees to facilitate discussions on openEHR and enhance their professional network within the openEHR community Several national projects are currently leveraging openEHR including Vinnova projects like Symphony and ASHA. Members of openEHR Sweden have actively participated in multiple openEHR related conferences, contributing to knowledge exchange and visibility. openEHR Sweden has also played a role in shaping national perspectives on European health data initiatives, notably by contributing to referral responses to the Swedish eHealth Authority regarding the European Health Data Space (EHDS). openEHR Sweden has also been represented at the national interoperability council at the national e-health authority. Significant progress has been made within the translation group, where a structured process for archetype translation has been established. Two new implementation guides were finalized in 2025:
Ongoing Priorities and Challenges Key priorities include supporting ongoing openEHR-related projects and contributing to national efforts aligned with EHDS. However, challenges remain, particularly the limited availability of staff dedicated solely to openEHR activities. Another concern raised by stakeholders is the time required for archetype approval and feedback, which is expected to improve in the coming year. There is no formal decision to adopt openEHR in all 21 regions. Focus Areas for 2026 Looking ahead, openEHR Sweden will continue to:
