FHIR UK Core <> openEHR mappings

These pages contain the initial thoughts on how data can be mapped between the NHS UK Core FHIR profiles and openEHR.

Constraining the mapping scope to the boundaries of UK Core will (hopefully) reduce the complexity that lies with catering to the complete breadth of the FHIR resources.

There are known challenges when mapping between FHIR and openEHR (see https://openehr.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/stds/pages/441581569 ) which will need to be catered for in due course. As the UK Core profiles are published using the FHIR R4 version, then there is no capacity for amendments to the core architecture of FHIR to alleviate the mapping tensions as the FHIR R4 version cannot be changed.

The development of the FHIR UK Core profiles is an ongoing exercise and as such a stable set of profiles does not yet exist. The first set of profiles are currently undergoing a HL7 UK Ballot (i.e. a formal review) and these represent the most stable profiles, and hence seem a good place to start.

The profiles are listed here https://openehr.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/stds/pages/1998028807
